     The Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce announces the Huntington YMCA as the Business of the Week for the week of March 31, 2008. The Huntington YMCA began serving the surrounding community in 1885 in the Palmer Building on Third Avenue and Ninth Street. By 1929, money for the structure on Sixth Avenue and Eleventh Street was raised and in 1931 this building was completed and dedicated.

    

     In 1953, E. P. May donated the current YMCA May Building at the 935 10th Avenue location. The May Building features the latest fitness equipment, offers a variety of group fitness classes and extensive programming. In 1999, the YMCA Youth Building moved to the old Huntington High School and began renovating this facility, which was completed in 2001. Various senior and physical disability programs are facilitated throughout the morning and afternoon at this facility.
